MORTEX by BEAL International is here. We're looking for installers

BEAL International is a Belgian family company that has been making finishes for walls, floors, and showers since 1974. Terraforma, founded by Jean Pascal, is bringing MORTEX and Bealstone to North America, and we're building our network of certified installers. On Thursday, November 12, Jean shows you how the system goes on, live.

Meet your presenter

Jean Pascal

Founder of Terraforma · Builder · Plaster finishes specialist

Jean is the one teaching on November 12. He's a builder, not a presenter reading slides. He learned plaster finishes on real BC job sites, got tired of systems that didn't hold up in showers, and went looking for a better one.

On the demo, he'll show you how he puts MORTEX on, the same way he does it on his own jobs, and answer your questions himself.

  • Building in BC since 2017

Carpenter first, then a licensed builder running renovations, new builds, and hotel renovations.

  • Plaster finishes specialist

Started on the side when clients kept asking. Now it's what he specializes in.

  • Chose BEAL after 50+ brands

Visited the factory in Belgium before bringing MORTEX to North America.

You're not starting a new trade. You're adding a finish to the one you have.

The demand is here. The installers aren't yet

The opportunity

Designers and clients across North America are already asking for MORTEX and Bealstone. Jean is getting messages from all over, and Terraforma hasn't started advertising. But a designer can't specify a finish if there's no one to install it.

That's why we're building a network of certified installers, starting in BC.

  1. Learn the system. Get trained and certified on MORTEX and Bealstone.

  2. Get referrals. When designers and clients come to us looking for an installer, we send them to our certified installers.

  3. Get in early. The network is small right now, and the first training has 12 seats.

  4. Learn from the source. BEAL International is coming to the training in Vancouver, November 26 to 29.

WHO THIS DEMO IS FOR

  • YOU'RE ALREADY IN THE TRADES

You do tile, drywall, concrete, or carpentry, or you run jobs as a GC, and you want to add a new service.

  • YOU'RE NEW TO MICROCEMENT

You've never touched it and want to see how it actually goes on.

  • YOU'VE TRIED OTHER PRODUCTS

You've used other microcement and the system never quite worked.

  • BUILDING SHOWERS

You're tired of mortar beds, puddles, and fiddly drains.

What Jean will show you

What microcement is

In plain words: a thin finish you trowel on by hand that covers walls, floors, and showers in one continuous surface, with no grout lines.

The shower tray we make ourselves

It's composite resin, set in tile mortar like any prefab tray, and comes pre-primed so you coat right over it.

The MORTEX system, layer by layer

Base coat, finish coat, and sealer, in the same order and with the same cure times on every job.

What it goes over

The substrates you already prep every day, and how to bring a floor up to the tray with cement board or self-leveler.

Bealstone

A terrazzo with no joints, made mostly from the same products as MORTEX.

Your questions

Live, at the end.

Terraforma is BEAL International's authorized distributor in Canada and the US.

Made in Belgium by BEAL International

  • 50 years in the business.
BEAL International is a Belgian family company, founded in 1974 and based in Fernelmont, near Namur. It designs, makes, and distributes finishes for construction and interiors.
  • The makers of MORTEX and Bealstone.
MORTEX is their microcement for walls, floors, and showers. Bealstone is their terrazzo with no joints. Both use many of the same products, so learning one gets you most of the way to the other.
  • It started in water tanks.
MORTEX was first made to line water tanks and sewer systems and keep them waterproof. The microcement came out of that formula.
  • On a world stage.
MORTEX was used on much of the interior and exterior at Expo 2025 in Osaka, Japan, and BEAL has been selling in Japan for years.

Designers can't specify it if there's no one to install it. There's more work out there than installers to do it.

Who's bringing it here

Terraforma is the company Jean Pascal founded to bring BEAL International's MORTEX and Bealstone to North America. We supply the products, train and certify the installers, and connect them with the designers and clients asking for the finish.

I moved to BC in 2017 and started out as a carpenter. A couple of years later I got my builder's license and started running my own jobs: house renovations, new builds, and hotel renovations.

Clients kept asking for plaster finishes, so I started doing them on the side, and it became what I specialize in. The products I could get here were good, but the system around them never quite worked. Showers were the worst of it, so we started making our own resin trays.

Then I went looking for a better microcement system. I talked to over 50 brands, visited BEAL's factory in Belgium, and chose MORTEX. Now the first container is here, and I want to train the people who'll put it on.

Questions before you register

Do I need any experience with microcement?

No. Jean starts from the beginning and explains everything in plain words. If you're already in the trades, you know more of this than you think.

Where is it, and how long is it?

Online, on Zoom. You'll get your link by email after you register. It's a 30-minute demo followed by 15 minutes of live Q&A, starting at 6:30 PM PT, and it's free.

What if I can't make it live?

Register anyway and we'll send you the replay.

What does certification get me?

Training on the full MORTEX and Bealstone systems, and a place in Terraforma's network of certified installers. When designers and clients come to us looking for someone to install, we refer them to that network.

Is this only for BC?

The first training is in Vancouver. Demand is coming from across North America, so if you're outside BC, register anyway and tell us where you work.

Will you be selling something?

At the end, Jean will tell you about the four-day, hands-on certification training in Vancouver, November 26 to 29, with BEAL International there in person. The demo is worth your time whether or not you sign up.

Can I bring someone from my crew?

Yes. Each person should register with their own email so they get their own Zoom link.

Who is presenting?

Jean Pascal, founder of Terraforma. He has been building in BC since 2017, as a carpenter, a licensed builder, and a plaster finishes specialist.

Join the network while it's still small

MORTEX by BEAL International is here, the demand is already here, and there aren't enough installers yet. Come see how the system works, ask Jean anything, and decide for yourself if it fits your trade.
