Who this training is for

Tile setters, drywallers, painters, decorative finishers, and renovation contractors who want to add mineral finishes to the work they offer. No microcement experience needed for day one.

MORTEX®

MORTEX® is a thin, lime-based microcement troweled by hand onto floors, walls, and showers.

BEALSTONE terrazzo with blue aggregates

BEALSTONE®

BEALSTONE® is BEAL’s terrazzo system: a mineral binder mixed with stone or glass chips, then ground smooth.

Why add mineral finishes to your work

Architects and designers want microcement and terrazzo for high-end homes, hotels, and commercial spaces. Few tradespeople in BC know how to install them, and that gap is your opportunity.

Price it as specialist work

Hand-applied finishes take skill most crews don’t have, and clients pay for that skill.

Get into luxury projects

Custom homes, spa bathrooms, feature walls, and boutique commercial fit-outs are where these finishes get specified.

Quote renovations without the demolition

MORTEX® goes right over existing tile, so you can offer a full bathroom refresh without the tear-out.

Add a service, not a new trade

If you already tile, plaster, or paint, much of what you know carries over. You’ll offer clients something new without changing how you run your business.

Where and when

November 26 to 29 · 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily

What’s included

  • Tools and materials for every session
  • Breakfast and lunch each day
  • Sample plates and pieces to take with you
  • A BEAL certificate of participation for each course you complete

What we’ll cover

Day 1 · Thursday, November 26

Basics of MORTEX®

Day one will be your introduction to MORTEX®. You’ll learn how to prep the surface, mix the material, and apply, seal, and care for it. Then you’ll practice the two core techniques, a secco (over a dry coat) and a fresco (wet on wet), and trowel your first sample plates to take home.

Days 2 and 3 · Friday and Saturday, November 27 to 28

MORTEX® walls, showers, and floors

Two full days of decorative work: walls and floors, stair modules, and finish effects like rust, oxide, wood, stone, and smooth moiré. This is where MORTEX® stops being a material you’ve heard about and becomes one you can confidently bid on.

[Day one required first.]

Day 4 · Sunday, November 29

Basics of BEALSTONE®

An introduction to BEALSTONE®, BEAL’s terrazzo system. You’ll cover site prep and application, then spend most of the day sanding and polishing sample pieces and a floor module. You’ll finish with the maintenance and cleanup routine every job needs.

$3, 200 CAD for the full course. Payment plans available.

At typical rates, one bathroom job can cover the training cost.

Book Your training

I spent 10 years applying these finishes on homes in Whistler and Vancouver, and I learned most of it the hard way. This is the training I wish I’d had at the start.”

Why train with BEAL

  • Learn from the manufacturer.
A BEAL instructor travels from Europe to teach the system the way BEAL designed it, not a secondhand version.

  • Get in early.
BEAL-trained applicators are still rare in Western Canada and the Pacific Northwest, so the skill sets you apart from your first job.
  • Win better jobs.
BEAL training shows architects, designers, and general contractors that you know the system, not just that you own a trowel.

  • Get trade pricing and real backup.
You get direct access to product, trade pricing, and technical support from someone who spent 10+ years applying these finishes, not a call center.

  • Join a community, not a customer list. You’ll be part of a network of trained installers, with a path to becoming a BEAL Listed Applicator.

Questions before you book

Do I need experience?

Not for day one. It’s built for tradespeople who are new to microcement. Days two and three build on day one, so take day one first, or have previous MORTEX® training.

Can I take just one day?

Currently, all four days are offered as a package so you can get all of the foundational knowledge you need.

What language is the training in?

Your instructor comes from BEAL in Europe, and the course is taught in English.

What should I wear or bring?

Work clothes and closed-toe shoes. We supply all tools, materials, and protective gear. And a positive attitude.

What if not enough people sign up?

BEAL sets a minimum group size for each course. If a course doesn’t reach it, we’ll let you know at least 7 days ahead and offer a full refund or a seat at the next session.

What’s your refund policy?

Unfortunately, no refunds are available at this time.

What certificate do I get?

You’ll receive a BEAL certificate of participation for each course you complete. Becoming a BEAL Listed Applicator is a separate step, and we’ll walk you through it after the training.

How do I get to the venue?

Parking and transit details will be provided to you after registration.
